Moss holds moisture against the roof, which can degrade roofing materials and lead to early wear and tear.
Accumulation of moss can lead to water back-up under roof tiles, potentially causing leaks and significant water damage to the interior of the home.
As moss grows, it can lift and shift tiles, compromising the roof’s integrity and increasing the risk of repairs.
Moss runoff can clog gutters and downpipes on a regular basis, leading to water overflow and potential damage to the exterior of the house.
Trapping moisture, moss can affect insulation effectiveness, leading to higher energy bills due to lost heat or cool air.

Moss, algae, lichen, and other biological growth can quietly eat away at the surface of your roof. While a manual clean removes visible build-up, the job isn’t complete without a biocide treatment.
A biocide is a specially formulated chemical solution that kills and prevents organic growth such as moss, algae, mould, and lichen. In roof cleaning, it’s applied after physical removal of moss and debris to stop regrowth and clean staining at a deeper level.
Biocide doesn’t just remove surface growth – it seeps into the pores of tiles, slates, and other materials, breaking down biological spores and preventing future infestation. It continues working long after application and is vital in long-term roof maintenance.
